I have windows xp. When I try to get into my favorite's it say's: c:\2c83eb9b814f8f281fc959c1a3\Favorites is not accessible. Below this it states: access is denied.
This is in Internet Explorer 7.
I looked on my computer and found under the OS a file titled 2c8eb9b8f281fc959c1a3. In that file there are two files - one titled Favorites, another titled update. when you try to click onto either file it say's access is denied. I tried to delete the whole file and an error comes up that states this file is a part of the OS and can not be deleted because it's needed for windows to run properly. Can anyone help me? Please?
I searched the web and couldn't find anything for this type of problem.
I have never come across this problem but can suggest few things. First make sure you are still not running Internet explorer beta. You can reset all the settings to default in IE7 by clicking on Tools-> Internet Options and then try if it works.
Otherwise, I would suggest to un-install the IE7, reset all the setting in IE6, then download IE7 from Microsoft site and re-install it.
Please post after trying this. I would love to know.
I was able to set all my settings to default in IE7, but this didn't change anything. I am unsure how to un-install IE7 because I went to my add/remove programs and didn't see it listed there. I'm not computer literate but I know how to get around the programs I use. It's the internal work that I'm not wise to. Normally I have a computer person check everything but I've not been able to contact her and I'm very upset that my favorites is not working!!!
Thanks for trying to help me!!!
At this point, I must say either your computer is infected with Virus/Spyware or the Internet Explorer 7 is hijacked. There is a program called HijackThis which can fix the problem in case the IE7 is hijacked. But, I would not advice you to run this unless you are confident and you know what you are doing because it can cause some problem if not used correctly.
In fact, I would suggest to update your anti-virus and Spyware software and scan it in Safe mode. You can boot your computer in safe mode by pressing F8 while your computer is rebooting during BIOS screen.
thanks, Rakesh. Since I'm not really computer literate I think I'll take it to tech tech shop!!!
