I have been using Ubuntu for last few months and I am happy with it. Only now when I wanted to listen to some music online which requires real player and when I tried to install real player with apt-get command from the canonical archive, it didn't install. So now I have to find out alternative way to install real player on my Ubuntu laptop. Can someone help me to install real player on my Ubuntu laptop?
1. Download RealPlayer from http://www.real.com/linux
2. Now, right click on the file RealPlayer11Gold.bin and click on Permission tab and check the box next to Execute . It will allow executing the file as program. The name of the file will vary depending upon the version number.
3. Open the terminal, Change the directory to the file location and type this command
#sudo ./RealPlayer11Gold.bin
4. Then Go to Applications -> Sound and Video -> Real Player 11 and click on Real Player 11 and it will ask you start setup. Set it up and that's it. You have working Real Player in your Ubuntu laptop.
Note: After the installation was complete, I was able to open Real Player from Applications ->Audio and Video but I was not able to play music online from Raaga.com. It was fixed automatically after restarting my computer. So you might need to restart your computer in case that is your requirement too.
